      "This is a beautiful, larger version of the classic Ancient Greek Lion Head earring. The shank is composed of four coiled gold wires twisted into a tapering spiral, tubular collar with vandykes, granules, and applied filigree detailing, and a lion mask finial".
       
      A lovely crafted and decorated earring with a Lion Head and decorated collar attached to a coiled spiraling tail that can be inserted in the lion's mouth for fastening. Its eyes are recessed and would likely have contained colored gemstones. It is crafted from high karat yellow gold, and its origin is likely from Cyprus where a number of these were known to have been produced way back in antiquity.
       
      You see these from time to time but most are pretty ragged looking with loss to the head and coils. This particular one (and another smaller one that I have) is in Excellent Condition.
       
      Beautiful and rare in this top notch condition, this striking Ancient Greek crafted earring is a special example of genuine ancient gold craftsmanship, jewelry and art.
       
      It is an eye-catching and wonderful, wearable piece.
