      A "stunningly superb" Bronze Age fibula, or brooch, used to fasten one's cloak or cape.
       
      Made of a single cast section of bronze of varying width and thickness, its form being of a fantastic mystical sea creature with a long open beak-like mouth morphing into a large flat catch plate.
       
      This intriguing fibula is intact, complete with the long pointed pin that rests snuggly in the large hammered catch plate. Its concentric eyes (on both sides) are wide open, its neck collar of sorts graduates upward to a point like a horn, and its body is covered in hammered indentations that replicate this fascinating creature's scales. The body of the creature graduates into a single coil of bronze to extend into the brooch's long fastening pin.
       
      This very rare piece of ancient art is in Excellent condition with a fully intact pin. Its dark glossy patina is absolutely superb.
       
      A fibula of this size and quality is a testament to the skill of Bronze Age craftsmen even at this early date and would have been owned by only a high ranking member of the elite warrior class.
       
      This striking Scythian piece represents the earliest artwork from the vestiges of the proto-Iranian civilization in Eastern Europe/Eurasia. The Scythians in particular were well known for their excellent metal craft in bronze and gold.
       
      Outstanding and very rare, this large ancient bronze fibula is an exceptional example of genuine ancient bronze metallurgy, jewelry and art. Its unusual subject of a large mystical sea creature or serpent only adds to its magical essence and appeal!
